Learning for Life
A partnership between Opportunity House and Kishwaukee College, the Learning for Life program began in 2009 and gives developmentally challenged clients of Opportunity House a chance to learn new things, explore various pathways and earn a non-credit certificate of completion from Kishwaukee College. Core class subjects include: Math, Science, English and Social Studies as well as other class subjects include Reading, Art, Communications, Writing and Culture. There are 3 progressive learning levels and each takes approximately two years to complete. The third level not only requires classes, but also includes a service project or designated community volunteer hours. It is a very popular program for clients at Opportunity House.
