Requirements: Must be 18 years or older. High school diploma or GED. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Personal vehicle to use on company business if needed. Must pass background checks. DSP training is flexible and paid!

The Community Engagement DSP will provide meaningful person-centered opportunities through planned community engagements. Plan and execute opportunities for clients to access their community through volunteer work and community exploration. Maintain/build community relationships, while encouraging client independence. Provide training in appropriate work expectations while teaching socialization and adaptive skills when necessary.
Community Engagement Direct Support Professional duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting client orientation to their local community.
- Identifying client needs and assess skill levels.
- Helping clients solve problems and promote independence.
- Assisting clients with personal care as needed.
- Planning and supervising community integrated activities.
- Participating in implementing the clients’ Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and Behavior Plans.
- Advocating and protecting clients’ health, safety, and financial well-being by implementing emergency, safety, and infection control plans.
- Providing clients with information on personal choice options throughout the day.
- Developing, executing, and tracking community engagements and volunteer work.
- Tracking progress in employable skills.
- Monitoring and recording client production and attendance to assure payroll and personal choice data is accurate.
- Maintaining a cooperative relationship with clients, other departments, and the local community.
- Implementing behavior management techniques.
- Backfilling on OHI work floor as needed.
- Planning and supervising contingency activities when community engagement or volunteer work is unavailable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Opportunity House will provide you with all the necessary training to succeed as a Direct Support Professional! DSP training is provided online and is flexible and paid! Once you successfully complete DSP training, you will be added to the Illinois Healthcare Workers Registry as a DSP as well!

· Valid driver’s license and auto insurance; including 3 years of driving experience

-Comply with and enforce applicable licensing and regulatory requirements, laws, accreditation standards and OH policy and procedures.
-Cooperate with clients, parents/guardians, co-workers, community agencies, and other departments.
-Monitor Relias training and completion of OJT competencies.
-Determine departmental needs for staff, equipment, and supplies and ensure proper maintenance of client rooms, building, grounds, and vehicle.
-Review and manage departmental spending; coordinate maintenance and repairs.
-Advocate and protect clients’ health, safety, and financial well-being; ensure clients receive all services and benefits to which they are entitled.
-Implement behavior intervention techniques.
-Responsible for on-call scheduling issues, emergencies, and other emergency situations that require a house manager.
-Participate in on-call weekend rotation, including selecting two holidays a year.
-Maintain timely and accurate records.
-Maintain First Aid and CPR training.
-Maintain home schedule/personal schedule while looking to reduce overtime as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.

Direct Support Professional - Community Day Services

- Advocate and protect clients’ health, safety, financial and personal well-being.
- Teach and support clients in learning daily living (meal preparation, housekeeping, money management etc.), personal care (including toileting and showering as needed), adaptive living (conflict resolution and emotional regulation) and employment skills.
- Provide support and assistance in a classroom environment while fostering the acquisition of skills, appropriate behavior, greater independence and personal choice. promoting independence and
- Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment and teach home and community safety, including evacuation procedures.
- Maintain clean facilities and vehicles, complete assigned cleaning tasks, report safety concerns
- Encourage participation and provide individualized engagement and for each client developed from their unique interests.
- Plan and implement community recreation and leisure activities.
- Attend Interdisciplinary Team meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation and records.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with clients, parents/guardians, other agencies, co-workers, and other departments to foster productive teamwork and accomplish goals.
- Comply with and enforce licensing and regulatory requirements, accreditation standards and OH policy and procedures.
- Provide client transportation as assigned, which may include driving company cars, vans, or buses in accordance with OH’s safety procedures; teach clients how to navigate public transportation.
- Assist with medical appointments as needed.
- Maintain First Aid, CPR Certification and other required certification and training.
