Community Day Services
The Community Day Services program focuses on acquiring, enhancing, and maintaining personal, social, educational and vocational skills development. Individualized services are designed to assist individuals in acquiring, enhancing or maintaining the skills needed for independence in daily living.
Community Day Services provide a wide range of education and training opportunities including:
When not engaged in work, individuals employed at OH Industries are provided with a variety of activities designed to increase independent living, personal, social and employment skills. The “Learning for Life” program, in collaboration with Kishwaukee College, is also offered to those wishing to pursue continuing adult education.
Some disability advocacy groups want to eliminate commensurate wages and sheltered employment for people with disabilities. Though sheltered employment is not the best option for many people, for some people it is the only option they have to earn a wage, and take pride in having a job and being productive.
